Period: January – December 2025
Purpose of the job
Engineering & Maintenance has a mandate to oversee the execution of local preventive maintenance and repair of processing equipment, clean & black utilities, laboratory equipment and facilities at the mRNA-based vaccine manufacturing site. Also, it handles projects, equipment/systems commissioning & qualification, process automation, and calibration in line with cGxP principles.
The Associate Calibration participates in performing a wide variety of skilled tasks including setting, adjusting, validating mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, electronic measuring and control instruments using the relevant reference standards as per the applicable procedures, installation, repairs, troubleshooting, modification, design, installation and calibration of instrumentation and electrical systems for plant and utilities.
Main responsibilities
• Perform in-house calibration/adjustment or replacement on selected or defective in- house calibrated tools using existing standard operating procedures/ OEM guidelines.
• Assist automation team during loop checks and commissioning of automated systems at the site by verifying the accuracy of sensors or instruments and checking that each instrument is correctly calibrated and providing accurate readings Etc.
• Maintain calibration database for all instruments and monitor due dates, perform calibrations, and generate calibration paperwork (certificates and reports).
• Assist in the coordination of instruments calibration schedule and their implementation with external service providers.
• Recognize out-of-tolerance conditions and initiate corrective action and documentation.
• Use of a management software program (COMOS, SAP PM, CMX etc.) to keep track of all calibration required tooling Record and report abnormal function of equipment or out of tolerance conditions while adhering to cGMP standards.
• Performs work in accordance with approved equipment calibration, maintenance, and safety procedures.
• Calibrate test instruments in categories such as physical dimension, electronic, torque, force, pressure, and environmental condition.
• Daily spot check production floor calibrated tools that may be defective or out of tolerance and communication with production team is essential.
• Carry out Root Cause Analysis on breakdowns related to instrumentation and calibration.
• Respond to emergency situations promptly, especially in the case of defective equipment.
• Assist external calibration service provider with new equipment installations and during routine maintenance, troubleshooting execution.
• Attend and actively participate in all departmental meetings.
• Technical report writing.
• Any other duties as assigned by the Line Manager.
Work Experience, Skills, and Abilities
Educational level
Diploma in Electrical/ Electronics /Instrumentation Engineering
Professional experiences/Knowledge
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Calibration and Instrumentation in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry or FMCG factories.
• Deep knowledge in installation of Electrical Components
• Experience and / or training in equipment calibration in any of the following: Electrical instrumentation; Physical Dimensional etc.
• Knowledge of GMP requirements, methodologies, concepts, and requirements related to process Control.
• Knowledge and deep understanding of Complete electrical component cabinets and control instruments.
• Well-rounded calibration and preventive maintenance experience with general lab equipment that include but are not limited to refrigerators; freezers; incubators; centrifuges; transducers; ovens; balances; pH and conductivity meters, chart recorders, and monitoring systems and system component.
• General knowledge of high-end analytical instrumentation, calibration, and preventive maintenance.
• Good knowledge in DCS systems and Siemens PCS 7.
• Deep understanding of electrical drawings and P&IDs.
• Excellent computer skills and use of Microsoft office tools.
• Excellent skills in industrial and domestic wiring and installation.
• Have a safety mindset both for self and others with equipment.
• Ability to speak and write in the English language.
• Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task.
• Ability to make decisions or take actions to solve a problem or reach a goal.
• Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work-related problems
Other requirements
• Training certificates in electrical installation/instrumentation/Calibration.
• Vision (Near, Distance, Peripheral, Depth Perception)
• Sense of touch
• Ability to wear Personal Protective Clothing/Equipment (PPC/E) (Safety Glasses, Hard Hats, Safety Shoes, & Safety Harness)
• Climb towers with fall protection, work at heights.
