On behalf of our client Inspire Africa Coffee, we are looking for competent, skilled, and experienced Quality Assurance Manager to work in Uganda.

Job Summary
The QA Manager will play a critical role in ensuring that our coffee products meet the highest quality standards required by customers and comply with all relevant statutory and regulatory guidelines. This position is integral to maintaining and enhancing the overall quality of coffee production by implementing and monitoring effective quality control procedures. The role involves regular testing and evaluation of coffee products to verify compliance with both customer expectations and regulatory requirements. The QA Manager will provide insights into the effectiveness of quality control processes, identify areas for continuous improvement, and advise on industry standards to ensure compliance. Reporting directly to the Manager – Plant and Production, the QA Manager will offer regular updates on quality control initiatives and outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of coffee manufacturing processes, quality control procedures, and statutory and regulatory guidelines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Develop, implement, and maintain quality control processes for the entire coffee production process and other coffee by-products.
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards, specifications, certification, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular testing and analysis of coffee samples for flavor, aroma, acidity, and other quality parameters.
  • Utilize sensory evaluation and laboratory equipment for quality assessments.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement in coffee production.
  • Collaborate with production teams to implement best practices.
  • Work with suppliers and industry leaders to ensure the quality of incoming raw materials, including coffee beans and packaging.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments.
  • Stay updated on changes in quality standards and communicate updates to relevant teams.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of quality control processes and testing results, ensuring documentation complies with quality standards and regulations.
  • Provide training to production and quality control teams on quality standards and procedures.
  • Facilitate continuous learning and skill development within the quality control team.
  • Investigate and analyze the root causes of quality issues and develop corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Monitor and address customer feedback related to product quality, and implement improvements based on customer preferences and expectations.
  • Establish and maintain a continuous monitoring system for quality control through regular internal and external quality audits.
  • Manage the quality control budget efficiently, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
  • Provide leadership to the quality control team by collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure quality objectives are met.
  • Perform any other responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
 
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Industrial Chemistry, Food Engineering, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or food processing environment.
  • Experience in developing process and quality manuals in manufacturing plants.
  • Knowledgeable in food safety principles and quality audits.
  • Demonstrated expertise in food safety management systems, hazard control (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Good Hygiene Practices (GHPs).
  • Experience in data analysis, record-keeping, training, and interacting with third parties on training and compliance matters.
  • Familiarity with quality management and accreditation processes both locally and internationally.
  • Strong leadership, planning, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
