Job Overview.
This role shall involve developing and managing portfolio of loans for small and medium entrepreneurs (businesses).
Key Responsibilities:
- Market loan products and process loan applications for SME.
- Interview loan applicants to determine financial eligibility and feasibility of repayment of loans.
- Carry out risk assessment by collecting detailed information on each client through meetings and field visits (home, business, suppliers, customers, guarantors, community) and complete loan appraisal (financial analysis, repayment capacity, duration of loan, collateral, etc.)
- Complete loan contracts and counsel clients on policies and restrictions.
- Prepare Loan Appraisal report for Credit Committee meeting and informing the client about the decision of the credit units.
- Opening loan applications Conducting loan analysis by visiting the business and household of clients.
- Visiting the business /employer of guarantors and preparing a complete loan assessment according to the credit procedures.
- Ensuring punctual repayments of acquired loans from clients, contacting and visiting all parties based on needs.
- Ensuring high quality standards of the institution’s credit portfolio.
- Continually network to identify potential SME Clients in the respective region/zones.
- Update required data in Loan Management System.
- Verify the proper use of the funds disbursed.
- Monitor loans including periodic site visits and check that repayments are made on schedule.
- Ensure full compliance with all credit policies and procedures to ensure alignment with the audit recommendations.
- Conduct orientation meetings with potential SME clients at various levels.
- Conduct the technical feasibility and economic viability study for each of the potential and interested SME client’s businesses.
- Assist the SME clients in preparing their loan applications and brief them on the general procedures and requirements for the SME product.
- Monitor the progress of the SME loans and provide support as needed.
- Based on the knowledge of the local community, support and communicate to the headquarters any new initiative which could improve the SMEs’ development processes.
- Qualifications: 4 years of relevant work experience, a bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, commerce, or social sciences with one year of relevant work experience in SME lending, banking or finance company.
- Management Skills: planning, organizing, prioritizing, time management, conflict management and a proven ability to manage staff and to contribute to their skills and capacity development.
- Computer/ Technology Skills: The applicant should be computer literate and should be well acquainted with MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power Point and MS Outlook. The applicant should also be able to browse and surf the internet and to use instant messaging.
- Professional appearance.
- Teamwork and good interpersonal skills: the candidate should be able to establish positive relations with people in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity and gender-balance.
- Ability to determine and to review priorities and to meet deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task and to work under pressure.
- Ability to work without direct supervision.
