Job Title: Associate Electrician
Department: Engineering & Maintenance

Period: January – December 2025




Purpose of the job

Engineering, Maintenance & Site Operations department is mandated to oversee the execution of local preventive maintenance and repair of manufacturing equipment, clean & black utilities, laboratory equipment and facilities at the mRNA-based vaccine manufacturing site. Also, it handles projects, equipment/systems commissioning & qualification, process automation, and calibration in line with cGxP principles. 
The Electrical Technician participates in performing a wide variety of skilled tasks including installation, repairs, troubleshooting, modification, design, installation, and qualification of electrical systems for plant and utilities. They train staff in the operation and maintenance of electrical and electronic equipment.

Main responsibilities  

•    Installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of electrical system at site including circuit brakers, motors, drives, contactors, relays, fuses, switches, transformers, power supplies, PLC & HMI etc.
•    Wiring and installing electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, and control systems, following electrical codes and blueprints.
•    Identify and troubleshoot electrical issues, such as malfunctions, short circuits, or faulty wiring, and implement solutions to resolve problems.
•    Conduct Routine Maintenance on electrical equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
•    Conduct tests and inspections on electrical systems to ensure they meet safety and performance standards.
•    Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to understand the layout and specifications of electrical systems.
•    Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to proactively address potential issues and extend the lifespan of electrical equipment.
•    Carry out Root Cause Analysis on breakdowns related to electrical systems.
•    Work with instrumentation and control systems, such as sensors, transmitters, and controllers, to ensure proper functioning and integration with electrical systems. 
•    Write daily reports pertaining to the process control system diagnostics and related faults. These reports are handed to the automation engineer.
•    Maintain calibration and maintenance logs for instrumentation and process control equipment while adhering to cGMP standards.
•    Provide training and guidance to junior technicians or other personnel on electrical systems and safety procedures.
•    Respond to emergency situations promptly, especially in the case of electrical failures or safety hazards.
•    Active and direct participation in the installation of the electrical components of both the DS and DP Biontainer.
•    Active involvement in the SAT for both the DS and DP Biontainer.
•    Write weekly reports on the activities done during the installation.
•    Work with the electrical contractors during the installation of all electrical systems.
•    Participate actively in the calibration, commissioning and qualification of the DP and DS Biontainer.
•    Attend and actively participate in all departmental meetings. 
•    Technical report writing. 
•    Any other duties as assigned by the Line Manager.

Work Experience, Skills, and Abilities

Educational level

Diploma in Electrical/ Electronics /Instrumentation Engineering obtained from a reputable university.

Professional experiences/Knowledge
•    Minimum 6 years post qualification of experience in Electrical and Instrumentation in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry or FMCG factories.
•    Ability to communicate in the English language speaking and writting.
•    Deep knowledge in installation of Electrical Components, programming and configuration of Variable Frequency Drives and soft starters.
•    High level of circuit analysis of Electrical systems and PID loops.
•    Knowledge of GMP requirements, methodologies, concepts, and requirements related to process Control.
•    Knowledge and deep understanding of Complete electrical component cabinets and control instruments.
•    Ability to do circuit design using computer aided software like AutoCAD Electrical, SkyCAD Electrical.
•    Deep knowledge of configuration and installation of various transmitters and digital flowmeters.
•    Good knowledge and skills in troubleshooting and installing industrial communication networks.
•    Good knowledge of PLC installation, and troubleshooting.
•    Good knowledge in DCS systems and Siemens PCS 7.
•    Deep understanding of electrical drawings and P&IDs
•    Excellent computer skills and use of Microsoft office tools 
•    Excellent skills in industrial and domestic wiring and installation
•    Self-motivated work attitude.
•    Have a safety mindset both for self and others with equipment.
•    Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task. 
•    The ability to formulate a sound decision using the available information.  

Other requirements 

•    Training certificates in electrical installation/instrumentation/PLC programming.
•    Vision (Near, Distance, Peripheral, Depth Perception) 
•    Sense of touch 
•    Ability to wear Personal Protective Clothing/Equipment (PPC/E) (Safety Glasses, Hard Hats, Safety Shoes, & Safety Harness) 
•    Climb towers with fall protection, work at heights.
