On behalf of our client, we are looking for a competent, skilled and experienced Waste Water Treatment Specialist to work in Hoima-Western Uganda.
Job Summary:
The waste water treatment specialist will be responsible for operating and maintaining waste water treatment plant and systems and ensure that the released water is free from contaminants through regular testing and chemical treatment. The job incumbent is also charged with identifying and managing potential risks and hazards to the water system and its environment.

Job Summary:
The waste water treatment specialist will be responsible for operating and maintaining waste water treatment plant and systems and ensure that the released water is free from contaminants through regular testing and chemical treatment. The job incumbent is also charged with identifying and managing potential risks and hazards to the water system and its environment.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that the Waste Water Treatment Plant process runs smoothly
- Monitor water quality and adjust chemical, biological and physical processes to ensure the plant and treated water meet safety standards
- Ensure that all waste water treatment facilities are operating efficiently
- Regularly test, chemically treat, filtrate, and monitor the equipment to ensure the safe and effective functioning of the facility and its machinery
- Monitoring and testing Inlet and Outlet samples from the Waste Water Treatment Plant process in the laboratory.
- Ensure compliance to standards and authorities’ expectations
- Create work schedules for junior staff and manage all their operations
- Ensure that the results of the Waste Water Treatment process are within quality standards
- Identify and manage potential risks and hazards to the Waste Water Treatment Plant
- Handle emergency situations and urgently report about them to the top leadership team 11. Identify critical factors, trouble shoot and implement corrective actions in the plant
- Data documentation and proper record management.
- Ensure waste water treatment systems are operating efficiently and effectively at all time
- Oversee the process of maintenance and repair of equipment
- Prepare reports and recommend solutions to technical problems
- Keep up to date with changes in waste water treatment technologies and processes
- Perform the technical duties outlined in the most current ISO Guide for Waste Treatment and Waste Distribution Operators.
- Employ a wide range of methods waste water treatment and also develop new treatments.
- Carry out continuous control and improvement for the Waste water treatment plant process
- Plan, budget, requestion for key supplies, manpower, machinery and oversee their efficient deployment
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Mandatory Requirements
- A relevant advanced degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Oil and Gas, Chemical Engineering, Water Treatment or a related field
- At least 10 years’ experience at a waste water treatment facility with at least 4 years in Oil and Gas
- Experience in Oil & Gas sector or Waste Management is required
Added advantage:
- Can perform skilled labour as necessary in emergencies.
- Can perform other related work of a similar nature or level.
- Can perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor from time to time.
- Expert knowledge of waste water treatment processes
- Ability to analyse water quality
- Able to work from a camp in a remote area
- Excellent understanding of relevant legislation
- Ability to advise on waste water treatment solutions
- Ability to design and implement waste water treatment systems
- Strong level PC/software skills, particularly in MS Office suite
- Possessing working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in an added advantage.
- Knowledge in the relevant waste management and HSE regulations.
- Supervisory experience.
- Must be organized, accurate, thorough, and able to monitor work for quality.
- Must be willing to work long hours when required.
- Be able to work in a multicultural environment
