Position: Senior Accountant
Reports to: Director of Finance & Admin.
Supervises: Accountant
Status: Open Ended Contract
Location: Rwanda
Role Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing financial statements, managing accounts payables and receivables, reconciling financial transactions, and ensuring accurate record-keeping. The role supports audits, financial reporting, and compliance while collaborating with the finance team to achieve organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare monthly financial statements for the company to be reviewed by his/her supervisor.
• Prepare Requisitions and cash payment vouchers
• Record supplier payments, payables, prepayments, etc.
• Record deposits received from customers
• Perform bank, inventory, prepayments, payables, and receivable reconciliations
• Provide monthly reports on receivables, suppliers outstanding payments.
• Ensure that all accounts files are well kept
• Support external and internal audits as required
• Ensure regular financial transaction reconciliations.
• Work with the Director of Administration and Finance and Finance team to accomplish Finance Team goals
Skills and Qualifications
• Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Finance
• Advanced level of Professional qualification/Part II: ACCA, CPA, CIMA
• At least 3 years of experience in a similar position
• Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work
• Strong organization and planning skills
• Computer literacy
• Familiar with accounting software.
• Proficiency in preparing financial statements and reports.
• Expertise in reconciling financial transactions and maintaining accurate records.
• Strong understanding of supplier payments and customer collections.
• Ability to support internal and external audits with proper documentation.
• Experience with accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics).
• Attention to Detail & Accuracy
• Ability to work with finance teams and other departments effectively.
Key Performance Indicators
• Timeliness & Accuracy of Financial Statements
• Accounts Payable & Receivable Turnover (Days)
• Audit Compliance Score
• Cash Flow Efficiency
