Descriptions.
The Assistant Accountant will ensure accountability for sales, cash, debt, and stock in the assigned distribution location
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure all stock movements including loadings are documented as per sales and distribution Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in the assigned location. All stock movements are captured in the system on a timely basis
- Ensure stock returns and reconciliations are done, actioned on, and entered in the system after every sales trip as provided for by the SOP. Ensure every salesperson is reconciled before they are dispatched for a new sales trip
- Ensure timely availability of and implementation of the current pricelist by all salespersons in the assigned location by all salespersons
- Ensure sufficient controls towards optimization of expenses incurred in trade and in the assigned location. All expenses are within pre-approved budgets and are tracked and posted in the system and reported regularly
- Ensuring that cash is collected, banked, posted in the system, reported, and accounted for on a timely basis to proactively prevent any loss of company cash
- Ensure proper accounting for trade credit including availability and adherence to credit limits. Ensure availability of Know Your Customer (KYC) information for all credit customers. Timely updating into the system, analysis and tracking of field credit to facilitate collection
- Ensure stock is accounted for and correctly updated in the system. This shall include regular stock counts, accuracy in stock valuation, accuracy in stock analysis and reporting
- Monitoring and reporting of actual and target/AOP performance on sales, expenditure, and cash as well as recommending to management areas of improvement
- Providing necessary information to management to support critical short-term decisions such as optimum stockholding, product mix, and pricing to drive sales performance in the assigned location.
- Support with development and utilization of all sales and financial systems & policies necessary to improve operational efficiency for the location
- Any other role as will be assigned by your supervisor
- Bachelor’s’ degree in Accounting or a professional certificate (CPA, ACCA)
- Minimum relevant experience of 1 year preferably in FMCG
- Excellent knowledge of accounting procedures and controls
- Analytical and logical abilities, with a high attention to details
- Flexibility: Being free and able to handle different tasks as per current need requirement.
- Excellent excel skills
- Working knowledge of ERP system like SAP is preferred
- High degree of integrity and confidentiality
