On behalf of our Tanzania based client, we are looking for a competent and experienced Senior Credit Analyst.
Job Overview.
This role shall involve credit management which includes making all lending decisions on behalf of Company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Optimize risk, return and customer outcome tradeoffs through developing credit strategies across the various marketing channels, products and segments.
- Identify and implement opportunities to expand lending profitably.
- Oversee acquisitions underwriting policy including approve/decline, credit line assignment, pricing and term length.
- Define and implement appropriate documentation and scenarios to be evaluated.
- Serve as the customer for predictive models, partnering with data scientists to ensure new and refit models are in place as needed to enable the business strategy.
- Support regular strategy changes to respond to changes in the external environment, new initiatives, variances from expectations and other drivers and maintain a high portfolio quality.
- Maintain records of loan applications; Follow up with clients to manage debt settlements and loan renewals.
- Evaluate credit applications and assess the financial strength of applicants based on credit history, income statements, balance sheets, and other relevant financial documents.
- Analyze industry trends, economic conditions, and market factors to determine potential risks associated with extending credit.
- Calculate financial ratios and metrics to gauge the applicant's ability to repay debts and manage financial obligations.
- Conduct thorough credit investigations, including verifying information provided by applicants and obtaining credit reports from credit bureaus.
- Prepare detailed credit report recommendations for loan approvals.
- Collaborate with loan officers, underwriters, and other stakeholders to discuss credit decisions and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
- Recommend adjustments to credit policies and procedures based on changing market conditions and regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated on industry best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies relevant to credit analysis.
- Provide guidance and support to sales, assisting in their professional development and training as needed.
- Assist Finance team in related financial matters from time to time.
- Experience: Proven work experience as a Credit Manager, Credit Analyst or similar role.
- Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with accounting software.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to create and process financial spreadsheets (e.g. in Excel).
- BSc in Accounting, Economics, Banking and Finance or relevant field.
- Negotiations skills
